1993 L Reg, 220000 miles
£900
I bought the car 5 years ago on 140000 and have used her for commuting and site work for the duration.
The car is in fair condition and running order (given age/mileage) except for the engine, which is my reason for parting with what has been a very enjoyable motor to drive.
The spark plug in the 3rd cylinder has blown and removed the thread almost entirely.
This is following my fitting of leads and plugs to try and prevent her stalling when warm. This didn’t work and it eventually turned out to be the ECU so my garage fitted a new one. The car then performed fine for a few days until the plug blew. I may have under tightened this one and I suspect it was not checked by the garage, though I attach no blame…My own stoopid fault! Most of the HT lead was munched by the cylinder before I was able to stop, so I am not sure of potential damage within and cannot personally test compression. Though she is still running on 4 cylinders, I wouldn’t try and drive anywhere and the car will need to be collected.
Over the 5 years, I have spent a good few grand keeping her going, so some of the parts are nearly new and not many are the full age of the car! The MOT is until Nov 08 by the way. All the systems and electrics are in good working order (though a couple of dash bulbs may need replacement) and the tyres are nearly new though the alloys have lost their lacquer. I have the replacement HT lead and coil for the damaged cylinder, but once I realised the thread was gone, I have had to decide to not spend any more time on her, sadly.
Contact (or even comments!) eagerly awaited.....
